Meet Nazima Khairzad

During my trip to Afghanistan, I met Nazima Khairzad, a truly remarkable individual who defied tradition and threats to pursue her passion for skiing and sports.

As a female athlete in a country where gender norms discourage and forbid girls from engaging in sports, Nazima's courage and determination were truly inspiring.

Her extraordinary story motivated me to travel to Afghanistan and share her life story with the world, spreading awareness and encouraging support for women like Nazima who challenge norms and pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable future.

Risking Her Life to Play Sports in Afghanistan.

Nazima's journey shed light on the challenges faced by women in certain regions, and her resilience deeply moved me. Despite the obstacles she encounters as a female athlete in her country, she fearlessly pursued her love for skiing, hiking, running, and sports, leaving a lasting impact on those who hear her story.

Free To Run Ambassador.

Let us all be inspired by Nazima's bravery and continue working towards a world where every individual, regardless of gender, can freely embrace their love for sports and adventure.

I got to do it, and I did it!

Witnessing Nazima's strength and determination has fueled my commitment to advocate for accessibility, empowerment, and gender equality in sports and the outdoors. As a proud ambassador of @freetorun, I support their mission to develop girls' and young women's leadership in conflict areas through outdoor sports.

Meet the Travellers.

Meet the Travellers is an ongoing project where I feature real and inspiring stories of Black and POC travellers on my Instagram page. The idea was born from the fact that the travel space on social media tends to represent travelling through a White lens, while giving little heed to Black and POC voices.

Meet the Travellers aims to offer a platform to these voices, and share the stories of people who have had extraordinary travel experiences around the world.

Women Beyond Borders.

As part of the launch strategy for EuroNews Travel, which I oversaw as a lead content editor, I commissioned and produced Women Beyond Borders, a series highlighting female travellers and adventurers. I also had the pleasure of interviewing them all. The final video series was a massive hit with the audiences across the EuroNews network.

Jessica Nabongo

is the first Black woman to travel to every country, an entrepreneur and writer.

Here are three of my favorite videos from the series:

Nouf Alosaimi

She is the first female tec diver in Saudi Arabia and the founder of a Saudi diving initiative for women.

The Vanwives

Jaz and Crystal, a Canadian duo traveling in their van, together with their two adorable dogs.
